Ronan Dunlea was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. He has been teaching English as a foreign language since 2004. He started his teaching career in Osaka, Japan where he worked for 3 years and later moved to Madrid, Spain for 3 more where he became a qualified teacher of English for secondary school students. In 2010, he transferred to Hong Kong, China and taught there for 7 years. In 2018, he moved to Nice, France where he studied French full-time for a year. In 2019, just before the pandemic began, he moved to Hangzhou, China where he taught English throughout the pandemic. In 2023, he returned to teach in Hong Kong for a third time, where he is currently based.
Raising students' awareness about issues related to the environment, especially ways to become more environmentally-friendly, has always been an important aspect of his lessons.
